In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Dear Parents,
In honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
The Queen’s passing marks an important event in history and has special significance for the people of Windsor.
Thank you to all parents who were able to stay for our short service on Friday to give thanks for the life of Queen Elizabeth. It marked the start of the national period of mourning and allowed our school family to spend a few moments giving thanks and praying together.
This week, the children have spent some time reflecting on the life of Queen Elizabeth and thinking of the future with King Charles III.
The Queen was firmly of the belief that she had to be seen to be believed and wore brightly coloured clothes and hats to make sure that she stood out of the crowd. In memory of The Queen, each child has planted a colourful spring bulb in the growing bed next to The Quiet Area to represent The Queen’s hats. As each flower unfurls, it will remind us all of Queen Elizabeth.
This week, each class will make their own memorial card which will be placed at Cambridge Gate by a representative from each class. We believe that the cards and messages left at the gate will become part of a national collection of remembrance.
All children are taking part in Radio Berkshire’s special project to honour The Queen. Children across the county have been asked to draw and write any pictures or messages they wish to share with the Royal Family in memory of the Queen. These messages and pictures will be drawn on purple hearts which will be collected up and displayed in Windsor next week so that people can appreciate the heartfelt thanks and gratitude of the Berkshire school children.
The school will be closed on Monday 19th September to enable the whole school community to pay their respects to The Queen.
Kind regards,
Mrs Street
