Safeguarding & Equalities
The Welfare of Every Child Comes First
We are dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming and supportive school community where every child feels safe, valued and known.
We believe children thrive when they feel secure, happy and confident. Every member of our community plays a part in this, and safeguarding is woven into all aspects of school life to ensure that care, respect and wellbeing are always our priority.
Our Commitment
We maintain a strong culture of vigilance and care, ensuring that the welfare of our pupils is always our highest priority. All staff receive regular safeguarding training and are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct and child protection practice.
Our safeguarding procedures are robust, regularly reviewed and fully aligned with current statutory guidance and best practice.
Pastoral Care and Wellbeing
Outstanding pastoral care is central to our ethos. We take the time to know every child as an individual, fostering positive relationships built on trust, kindness and mutual respect.
Through a supportive and inclusive environment, we encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing, ensuring they feel safe both within school and beyond.
Working in Partnership
We believe that effective safeguarding is founded upon strong partnerships between school, home and external agencies. We work closely with families and, where appropriate, specialist services to ensure that children receive the support they need to flourish.
Designated Safeguarding Team
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and safeguarding team oversee all aspects of child protection and wellbeing within the school. They are available to provide guidance, support and advice to pupils, parents and staff whenever needed.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs J Street and, in her absence, Mrs L Warburton and Ms R Broachi are the Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.
Our Safeguarding Governor is Reverend S Lodge.
For any safeguarding concerns, please contact the school office, who will direct you to the appropriate member of the safeguarding team.
At The Queen Anne Royal Free, safeguarding is more than a statutory responsibility: it is a fundamental expression of our commitment to the care, dignity and wellbeing of every child entrusted to our care.
