Emergency Closure

The safety and wellbeing of our pupils, families, and staff are always our highest priority. We recognise the importance of providing consistency for families and will always aim to keep the school open whenever it is safe and practical to do so.

Where possible, any decision to close the school due to adverse weather conditions, including snow, extreme heat, or other severe weather events, will be communicated to parents and carers the day before. However, we appreciate that weather conditions can change rapidly and, on occasion, decisions may need to be made at short notice to ensure the safety of our community.

Should the school be unable to open, or if a delayed opening is necessary, information will be communicated directly to parents and carers and will also be published on the school website.

Local radio stations may also provide information regarding school closures:

  • Heart Thames Valley (formerly 210 FM): 102.9 FM / 97.0 FM
  • BBC Radio Berkshire: 95.4 FM, 94.6 FM, 104.1 FM and 104.4 FM

In the event that severe weather conditions require the school to close before the end of the school day, parents and carers will be notified via email. We ask that arrangements are then made for children to be collected as promptly as possible.

We greatly appreciate the support and understanding of our families when temporary school closure decisions are required. Any such decisions will always be made with the safety of our children and staff at the forefront.
